Our Future Work Force
You're Invited to a free breakfast with David Adkins
We continue to concentrate on our current workforce challenges by
offering training, job fairs, and NationJob internet links for employee
recruitment. But what are we doing to address the issue long term?
We're talking about children and early education. Kids become adults.
Adults are employees and employers. Science has proven that for every
dollar invested in a child's early development, there's a $17.00 return
on investment for our community.
Children with healthy, good beginnings have better vocabularies, better
social skills, are more likely to graduate from high school and enroll
in college. They're also less likely to participate in criminal
activity.
David Adkins, former Representative and Senator for the State of Kansas,
and current Vice Chancellor for the University of Kansas Medical Center,
will be our featured speaker during breakfast on April 9th (7:30 a.m.)
at the Clarion Inn. He'll chat about how our community, workforce
issues, employers, employees, science, and early childhood all come
together for a better tomorrow - and why it matters to you.
Reservations are needed - but breakfast is free! chamber@gcnet.com 276-3264
