At Today's Office Furniture with Ink Evolution, they have upgraded all equipment. Cartridge sponges can now be cleaned prior to having the ink put in through a complete vacuum filling process which allows for a much higher success rate. Garden City Downtown Vision garnered three Kansas Main Street Awards of Excellence and executive director Dr. Beverly Schmitz Glass was named State Director of the Year in ceremonies held during the annual Kansas Downtown Symposium in Leavenworth on October 22. Downtown Vision brought home a Community Award of Excellence on behalf of Commerce Bank. The newly developed Community Award is given to an organization, business, or individual that has made an outstanding contribution to its local Main Street organization. The Banner Art Project, initiated in 2008, took the honors for Excellence in Planning or Public Design. The Excellence in Downtown Marketing Award was given in recognition of Downtown Vision's website that was developed in partnership with Ink't Graphics.
The Center for Rural Affairs will partner with the Kansas Department of Commerce Rural Development Division to host the first ever Kansas Marketplace, which will focus on building jobs and the rural economy from within. It will be held at the Ramada Convention Center in Hays, KS on November 9, and 10, 2009.
